by admin477351

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, focusing primarily on ensuring Hungary’s long-term energy security. Orbán said his priority was securing uninterrupted oil and gas deliveries to Hungary, which relies heavily on Russian pipeline supplies.
Before departing for Moscow, Orbán emphasized that Hungary had recently obtained an exemption from U.S. sanctions on Russian energy, but that guaranteeing stable deliveries for the coming winter and beyond required direct discussions with Russia. The meeting also covered bilateral trade, energy cooperation and the possibility of advancing ceasefire efforts related to the war in Ukraine.
Orbán reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to maintaining a sovereign foreign policy and praised the reliability of Russian energy supplies during the talks. Hungary also indicated willingness to host peace negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who accompanied Orbán, held separate discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, reiterating that Hungary believes diplomacy remains essential to achieving peace.
